Killing Spider Man is what happens to be on the mind of every villain who enters Peter Parker’s web-flinging territory. In the third installment of the movie franchise the plot to kill the ultimate spider continues. Getting into the plots and sub-plots of the third movie one would need to briefly revisit the first. Finding out the Green Goblin is really the father figure of Norman Osbourne. Peter dispenses with the ego-maniacal Goblin soon enough, but in the end the Hobgoblin comes after Spidey will ferocity in the form of none of than his best friend Harry.Never heard of this before? Get up to speed here. As a best friend, Harry knows most of Peter’s secrets, but after finding out that same friend killed his father, Harry swears vengeance. Harry Osbourne is so intent on killing the web slinger, the identity of the New Goblin consumes him.
In several attempts Harry, dressed as the Hobgoblin, goes after Peter. Rage is thrown in Spidey’s face as grenades and almost losing M.J., again. Of course, Peter has already saved Harry’s life once in the film and still remains friends with the villain in hopes to regain the friendship he feels slipping through his fingers. Meanwhile, another villain, in the form of the escaped convict Flint Marko, gets trapped in a science experiment and turns into the Sandman. Flint is not aiming specifically at Spider Man to begin with, he really just wants to save his daughter and will kill anyone who gets in the way of that goal.
Poor Spidey does not realize Flints’ goal and interrupts the Sandman being a criminal. Flint is not going to break his promise to save his daughter so, he does the only rational thing for a villain and goes after Spidey to kill him. Harry goes after Mary Jane, Flint is causing destruction to draw the web slinger out and it all works. Spider Man swings in on a web to save the day and realizes he cannot beat the Sandman alone. In the end, Harry joins Spidey in taking the Sandman and they defeat him as a team. Harry pays the ultimate price for being a criminal and M.J. and Peter are back together again.
